Ballydorn Stay Shepherds Hut

The view from Ballydorn Stay alone has guests coming back again and again. Overlooking Whiterock Bay of Strangford Lough it offers seclusion and privacy and yet is a stones throw from the pub/ restaurant Daft Eddy's and lots of fun activities. The shepherd hut has its own outdoor space with firepit and grill, relaxing Muskoka Chairs & picnic table to enjoy the spectacular view over Strangford Lough. Fabulously comfortable and cosy it has immediate access to outdoor pursuits in the area from cycling & walking to paddle boarding & sailing. Ballydorn Stay Shepherd Hut Sleeps 4 in a king bed & twin bunks with a kitchenette & shower room within the hut. Daft Eddy's restaurant/bar and Little Eddy's Café is a short 3 minute stroll if you don’t feel like cooking.

The Spacious 160 sq. foot insulated shepherd hut is laid out to optimum use - the king size bed has plenty of storage with large drawers underneath and a headboard that provides space for family board-games and books as well as stylish lamps with bendy reading lights. The bunk beds offer bespoke memory foam mattresses and reading lights with USB points. The kitchenette has an under-counter fridge, a beautiful granite counter, butler sink, kettle, toaster, portable double induction hob (to make sure counter space is not taken over), cafetière and the usual cutlery & crockery. There is a table and stools for inside dining. Soft towels, cosy bedding and even a hot water bottle for those colder nights are supplied. Central heating and on demand hot water for your shower, perhaps after one of the many outdoor activities available in Strangford Lough.  The Heated towel rail in the bathroom and wall heater in main area will keep you cosy in the colder winter months.

We have a tree fort at the bottom of the garden that my kids would love to share as long as parents are responsible for their own children.

I will be on hand for any help or recommendations in the local area. There is also plenty of info in the manual in the shepherd hut.

We also offer the option of adding a bell tent sleeping up to four from mid May with king mattress and two very comfortable pullout singles -to add this to your accommodation proceed to booking and add either bell tent sleeping two or four plus the additional cleaning charge. The guests in the bell tent will have their own bathroom located in the adjacent outbuilding for their sole use -- sheets are provided but guests in the tent need to bring their own towels . The bell tent will not be rented separately from the hut. Dogs are allowed but they must be kept on a leash at all times and must never be left unattended at the property - we have our own dog who is not tethered but is v friendly. Dogs must not be allowed on the beds and an additional fee of £30 will be charged for dogs- only one pet maximum. For those booking the bell tent there must be a minimum of two adults aged 25 or over. No Hens or Stag parties. Bell tent is only available for bookings of two nights or more

73 Ballydorn Road , Newtownards, United Kingdom

GPS does not always bring you to the exact location so follow directions as below:

From Balloo House in Balloo take the Beechvale Road all the way down to the shore through Killinchy Village. You will reach a sharp bend to the left as you reach the water of Whiterock Bay - follow this road all the way round the bay- you will pass a small car park on the left hand side and the next driveway entrance on the left is us at 73- there is a small grey stone wall with 73 marked.

If you have got to the causeway leading to Sketrick and Daft Eddie’s you have gone too far. come up the driveway and park on the right hand side of the garage and you will see the steps leading up to the pebble pathway to your Shepherd Hut- the key will be in the door
